While my assistant was toiling away in the hot (and moist) Cape Cod sun shooting Jason and his dudes’ softball game, I got to hang with the ladies (in the air conditioned Woods Hole Inn hotel room). Uhh, perfect! Yep! I love me few things more than a morning hangin’ with a den o’ hens, all gigglin’ as they prep for a wedding, complete with all the loving, sassy banter that gets passed back and fourth when there’s no men around. This is the (admittedly quirky) character trait that makes me A.) wildly well-suited to wedding photography, and B.) the only dude invited to join three of my lady friends’ bachelorette parties thus far (though I draw the line at drinking through a penis straw, thank you very much). Laura’s girls brought the loving support, and the aire of celebration and joy in spades. She’s truly blessed to have friends like that.
Now, I’ve photographed a lot of beautiful women (just sayin’), but few as stunning, nor as (ironically) trepidatious in front of the camera as Laura Gellis. At every moment she was aware of my camera on her, I had to challenge myself to dig deeper into the well-spring of humor, fun, and lightheartedness in order to gently coax her beauty and profound love for her groom to rise to the surface and replace the silly, signature expression of nervousness that so often befalls her face.
And beautiful she was. From the shadow her veil cast on her petite collar bones, to the way she graciously welcomed the love and support from her friends and family, she was was *the* quintessential radiant bride.
And I couldn’t dream up a better, more solid, supportive and loving husband for her than Jason. What a catch. I’m looking forward to the incredible heights of love and joy they will reach in their union. And to the beautiful kids they’ll make. Getting my camera ready already.
Thank you, Laura and Jason, and all your incredible community for inviting me into your lives to share in and contribute to your special day. Here’s a handful of my favorite images. If you’d like to see the rest, just sign the guestbook at the bottom and I’ll send you a link to the whole gallery so you can view them all and even order premium quality prints!
